The Central Heights High School softball team pummeled Marmaton Valley Thursday at Central Heights.

The Vikings rolled to 8-0 and 14-0 victories.

In the first game, Kenzie Hayward and Sam Stegner led the offensive attack with three hits each. Stegner drove in two runs and Hayward, one. Kirby Laird also chipped in with two hits.

Stegner shut down Marmaton Valley, allowing just two hits and had 12 strikeouts.

The Vikings bats exploded in the second game. Kirby Laird had four hits. Stegner, Whitney Kraus, Hallie Brockus and Hayward had two hits each. Hayward had three RBIs.

Hayward earned her second victory this season. She tossed a one-hitter.

Saturday’s doubleheader at Iola was postponed because of the rain. The Vikings play a rescheduled home doubleheader today

The Pioneer League tournament starts Thursday.
