Clint Moyer, Clearwater, recently was promoted to colonel in the Kansas Army National Guard at a ceremony at Fort Leavenworth.
He is the son of Ed and Mary Belle Moyer, Wellsville. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1974.
Moyer enlisted in the Kansas National Guard at Pratt in 1985 as a field artilleryman.
He works for the Sedgwick County Special Education Cooperative in Goddard. He has taught special education in Clearwater since 1989. He has been deployed four times in his career, twice to Bosnia, once to Kosovo and most recently finishing a one-year tour of Iraq in 2009. He also spent two years in Armenia working with the U.S. Embassy as part of the Kansas–Armenia State Partnership Program.
He has been awarded the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals and six Army Commendation Medals.
Moyer and his wife, Nancy, a former kindergarten teacher in Wellsville, have three children and live in rural Clearwater.
