Many local area agencies and businesses will be closed Thursday and Friday to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.

In addition to city and county offices being closed the final two days of the week, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners will not have a study session Monday, setting it instead for Dec. 9 in the commission chambers, 1428 S. Main St., Suite 2, Ottawa.

The Ottawa Library, 101 S. Hickory St., will close early today at 5 p.m. and will be closed Thursday and Friday, opening at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Other area agencies planning to be closed Thursday and Friday include the East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging, 132 S. Main St., and the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, 109 E. Second St. The U.S. Post Office, 401 S. Hickory St., will be closed and no mail delivered on Thursday, but will be open Friday and will resume delivery.

The Ottawa Community Recreation Center/Goppert Building, 705 W. 15th St., will be closed Thursday and will open 6:30 a.m. Friday.

Wellsville, Ottawa, Central Heights and West Franklin school districts and their facilities will be closed today through Friday for Thanksgiving break.

The Hope House food pantry, 302 S. Walnut St., Ottawa, will be closed Thursday and Friday.

The Ottawa Herald, 104 S. Cedar St., will be closed Thursday with no paper published. A regular paper will be published Saturday. The Herald’s regular business hours will resume 8 a.m. Friday.
