Kansas Sen. Jeff King recently was elected by his Republican colleagues as the next vice president of the state Senate.

“It is a tremendous honor to be selected by my colleagues to serve as their vice president,” King, R-Independence, said in a release from his new Topeka office. “I am thankful for their support and look forward to working with them and the rest of Senate leadership to ensure that the new Kansas Senate governs in an efficient and accountable manner.”

During Kansas’ general election, King, who was elected to represent Kansas Senate District 15 in 2010, won re-election to the same, but newly re-drawn district, which now includes all of Neosho County and a majority of Labette and Montgomery counties. King’s district previously included a portion of Franklin County until redistricting changed its boundaries earlier this year.
