The Ottawa University baseball team’s struggles continued Saturday at home against McPherson. The Braves were swept 19-1 and 6-5.
Ottawa’s lone run in the opener came in the seventh inning on a James Wade sacrifice fly.
Dustin Balmer, Andy See, Josh Reynolds and Nick Rodriguez had hits.
Ottawa jumped on top of the nightcap as Greg Wisner smashed a solo home run in the first inning. Ottawa added two in the second inning for a 3-0 lead.
McPherson rallied back tying the game at 3-3 with a run in the fourth. Ottawa scored a run in the bottom of the fourth. Balmer tripled and scored on Kalem Quinn’s sacrifice fly.
McPherson scored twice in the top of the fifth for a 5-4 lead and scored one in the sixth for a 6-4 lead. Ottawa scored one in the seventh on a sacrifice bunt.
Balmer and Quinn led the Braves with two hits each. Reynolds pitched in four innings in the loss.
Ottawa (9-20, 3-13) plays 2 p.m. today in Olathe against MidAmerica Nazarene University.
