A. Reid Hillmer has been promoted to vice president/cashier of Kansas State Bank, 236 N. Main St., Ottawa.

“We are happy to have Reid as a member of our team,” Roger Maxwell, bank president, said in a news release Friday. “He is a seasoned financial executive who will lead the bank’s cashiering and operations functions.”

Hillmer has more than 40 years of management experience in community banking, the release said. He began his career in banking as a part-time teller in 1969, but most recently served as senior vice president and cashier at First State Bank of Kansas City, Kan., according to the release. Hillmer said in the release he was looking forward to working in Ottawa.

Also on Friday, the bank announced the promotions of Toni Mietchen to secretary of the board, Candy Huffman to assistant vice president and Denise Robinson to assistant vice president.

“We are excited about the promotion of Toni, Candy and Denise,” Maxwell said. “All three have been strong leaders and top-notch executives. Being able to promote from within is rewarding for the bank and provides continuity for our customers.”

The promotions come on the heels of Maxwell’s promotion to bank president last week. Maxwell, who has more than 20 years of banking experience in Franklin County, had been the bank’s senior vice president and chief credit officer.

Kansas State Bank, founded in 1917, has more than $100 million in assets, the release said. The bank has two locations in Ottawa and one in Baldwin City.
