The Franklin County clerk has been given the nod to transfer more than $500,000 between various funds in the county budget.
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution Wednesday allowing the transfer of $524,500 within the county budget. It is common practice for the county, Lisa Johnson, county administrator and counselor, said, so the county can close out its yearly books.
“This is an administrative function done at year-end to give the clerk the authority to do transfers. The amounts adjust based on budget authority and cash available,” Johnson said.
Such transfers are authorized by Kansas state statute.
Johnson said she and Shari Perry, county clerk, met to discuss the matter, based on the cash-on-hand, budgeted transfers and the county’s budget authority. Based on the cash-on-hand, or revenues that have come in to date, Johnson said, the amounts could be transferred safely. These transfers in no way affect taxes on residents, she said.
