After an apparent terror attack Monday at the Boston Marathon, President Obama has canceled his scheduled event Friday at the University of Kansas.
The White House announced the news of Obama’s canceled stop Tuesday afternoon. The president also ordered U.S. flags lowered to half-staff until Sunday in honor of the marathon bombings’ victims.
The university released a statement following the cancelation announcement.
“Our hearts and prayers are with the victims of this horrible tragedy. While we are disappointed that President Obama will not be on campus, a catastrophe of this type clearly takes precedence,” Bernadette Gray-Little, KU chancellor, said Tuesday. “It was an honor to have been chosen to host the president, and we hope to do so another time.”
