GARNETT — Central Heights Vikings lost a heartbreaker to Anderson County Friday 40-38.
Anderson County was able to overcome the Vikings in a game that went into overtime. Scott Lane, Central Heights head coach, lauded both teams for their determination and stamina in the hard-fought battle.
“That was one of the most exciting games I have ever been a part of,” Lane said.
It was a closely shot game with Central Heights and Anderson County both shooting 11-21 and 11-20 respectively from the field.
The “exciting” game taught the coach a lot about the tenacity of his team, he said.
“I learned a lot about my team tonight, and I have a team that is tough as nails,” Lane said.
The Vikings are set to compete in the Pleasanton tournament next week.

POMONA — The West Franklin Falcons came out with a big win over Northern Heights, winning 70-44 Friday night.
What started as a “dogfight” in the first half turned into somewhat of a romp in the second, James Spencer, Falcons head coach, said.
“They came out with a lot of intensity. We came out a little flat,” he said.
Brady Geist had a big game for the Falcons scoring 31 points, including five three-pointers.
Despite the big win, defensively the team thought they could have played a little better, Spencer said.
The team plays again Tuesday in the Flint Hills Tournament in Emporia against Herrington.
