Richard Lee Mullins, 74, Rantoul, Kan., passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kan.
Funeral services are planned for 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Burial is to follow in the Mont Ida Cemetery. Visitation is set for 6 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Garnett.
He was born Feb. 15, 1939, in Anderson County, Kan., the son of Glenn and Mary Pearl (Mace) Mullins.
He graduated from Welda High School.
Richard was a farmer, dairyman, and held such odd jobs as mechanic at Kens Champlin in Olathe, Kan., and as a maintenance supervisor at the Ottawa Recreation Commission from 1987 to 1998. He also was a rural mail carrier in southern Anderson County, and had many other jobs.
Richard was president of the Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor Association for 16 years. It was his most favorite activity and hobby. He was an avid John Deere tractor collector and also restored them.
Richard married Mary A. (Bishop) March 3, 1985, in Mont Ida Church of the Brethren, making their home in Imes, Kan.
He loved spending time with his great grandchildren, riding bikes and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Pearl Mullins; two brothers, Johnny and Donald; and one sister, Irene Mullins.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Mullins, of the home; one brother, Jim Mullins, Garnett, Kan.; two sons, Dennis Mullins and wife, Ruth; Douglas Mullins and wife, Julie, all of Gardner, Kan.; one daughter, Deborah Valencia and husband, Bob, Gardner, Kan.; one adopted son, Craig Mullins, Lyons, Kan.; one adopted daughter, Susan Mullins, Texas; step-son, Bud Bishop and wife, Linda, Ottawa, Kan.; one step-daughter, Brenda Cox and husband, Steve, Ottawa, Kan.; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
