For the program, JoAnn showed slides and talked about her recent trip to England and Normandy. After the informative program, everyone enjoyed a soup supper.
The opening prayer was given by Nancy Fischer. The meeting was called to order by President Therese Payne. Roll call was answered by sharing Thanksgiving plans. Liz Smith made a motion to approve the minutes, which was seconded by Lila Reekie, and the motion passed. Virginia Cook made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report, which was seconded by Janet Radcliffe and passed.
A bill was presented by Barb Engel to be reimbursed for postage. Virginia made a motion to pay Barb for postage, which was seconded by Bev. The motion passed.
President Therese Payne shared the state president’s letter from Del Jo Broadrick. The state treasurer’s money-making project is working at the Renaissance Festival. Janet, JoAnn Duvall and Lila worked this year. Members were reminded the Kansas website is under construction, to send minutes to Del Jo, the district meeting is April 20, 2013, and to pay dues by Dec. 20, 2012.
Therese shared that the chapter was a Five Pearl Chapter last year. Members were awaiting a response from Del Jo in regard to attending the Literature Festival author dinner in March. Janet received correspondence from Del Jo thanking the ladies for working at the Renaissance Festival.
Lila sent cards to Beth Gentry and Claire Davis. November and December birthday cards will be sent to those members.
Gloria Kruse and Therese received fall towels, as they were traveling the farthest for Thanksgiving. Gloria made a suggestion that members consider taking a driving tour of the quilts on Franklin County barns and eat somewhere for the June meeting.
Gloria made the motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded by Barb. The meeting closed with the singing of “The Lamp of ADK.”
