Members of Osawatomie Elks Lodge No. 921 and other participants of the annual Elks Lodge No. 803 Chili Cook-off, which was Jan. 26 and raised $330 for the club’s youth fund, are pictured. Five judges sampled the chili and chose the winners in three categories: mild, exotic and hot, and a people’s choice was awarded as well. In the mild category, first place went to Ed Lewis; second was Dan Carlson, and third was Jim Tawney. The exotic chili winners were: first place, Shawn Lucas, second place, Mary Hepner and third place, Gail Lewis. Hot chili winners were: first place No. 921 Elks; second place Carl Clinton and third place Ron and Deana Sorrels. The people’s choice award went to the Hot Chicks. Byron Hurley, coordinator of the event, was pleased with the turn-out this year and is looking forward to the event next year.
