An unofficial presentation called “Passing of the Bell” was done by Joanne Smith, the club’s outgoing president. The club has a bell to ring when the president needs to call the meeting to order. Joanne Smith wrote a poem entitled “Passing of the Bell.” It was touching and enjoyed by all.
Club president Daveen Holzapfel called the meeting to order. Humorist Joanne Smith read some natural tips for around the house entitled “Old Wives’ Tales.”
The question for roll call was “What new plans do you have for your flower beds?” Eight members were present, including Darlene Frieden, Daveen Holzaphfel, Faye Hunt, Dolores Larsen, Lia Niehoff, Frances O’Banion, Norma Sellers and Joanne Smith.
Treasurer’s report was given by Norma Sellers. Fifty dollars was given to Hope House in December 2013. Membership dues are being collected for 2014 also.
Minutes from the club’s last meeting in November 2013, were read by Dolores Larsen, secretary. There were no corrections.
No old business was discussed. New business included the club’s next meeting for March. No one had signed up to host this meeting. It was voted on to come back to Sirloin Stockade 11:30 a.m. March 19.
The sign-up sheet for Yard of the Month selections for Ottawa was distributed for members to sign up.
