General Edward Hand Chapter members attending were Regent Elaine Oakleaf, Vice Regent Dee Ellen Kruzel, Treasurer Barbara Dew, Secretary Lorene Christin, Librarian Nancy Machnicki, Registrar Clarice Knight, and Juniors Mary and Sarah Tah.
The General Edward Hand Chapter received more than 50 awards, including a Women in American History Award to Deborah Barker, director, Franklin County Historical Society; a Chaplain Activity Award to Chaplain Harma McKenzie; a Children of the American Revolution Award to Oakleaf; a DAR school Exceptional Honor Roll Award to Kruzel; a National Defense Award to the chapter’s National Defense Chair Bettie Ore; Volunteer Information Specialists Awards to Kruzel and Emily Kirkpatrick; and a Women’s Issues Exemplary Award, caring for an Outstanding DAR Junior.
Sage Tokach, Abilene, won the Kansas State Good Citizen Award, presented by NSDAR Good Citizen Chair Kruzel. It was accepted by Tokach’s mother. Other awards included Historical Tours, Haskell University donations, Good Citizen Awards, Services for Veterans, Membership, Constitution Week and the Celebrate America! Best entry.
