Club president Joanne Smith called the meeting to order. The meeting started with humor from Daveen Holzapfel entitled “Old Farmer’s Tales.” Members had heard of some of these before, but it was a good laugh.
Dolores Larsen, secretary, read the minutes. They were approved as read.
Norma Sellers, treasurer, gave her report. The club’s balance now is $124.81.
Roll call was taken with 11 members present, which included Darlene Frieden, Daveen Holzapfel, Ronda Huffman, Faye Hunt, Dolores Larsen, Lia Niehoff, Frances O’Banion, Linda Robbins, Norma Sellers, Jacquie Smith and Joanne Smith.
Yards of the Month for the month of September in Ottawa are: North Side, Kim and Doug North, and South Side, Gary Bowling. Jacquie Smith and Joanne Smith will be selecting the Yards of the Month for October.
Frances O’Banion brought her Passion Flower in to show. The surprising thing about this vine was the fact that it was blooming and it also had a seed pod on it. The fragrance was wonderful. Members also discussed Moon Flowers and Gladiolas.
There were two prizes at this meeting. The first one was for the person who had a birthday closest to this date. It was Norma Sellers. She won a leaf-shaped candle holder. The second was a drawing for the flower centerpiece made up of mums. That went to Ronda Huffman.
