Zig Zag’s project of making pillows and pillowcases for charity continues through October. They will then be donated to a community residential or medical facility.
A variety of items were shared during the show-and-tell segment — quilts, pillows and pillowcases; crocheted scarves; a fabric necklace made out of T-shirt strips; and a senior citizen napkin holder. A recently completed star medallion quilt shown by Judy Wiederholt and her mother, Laura Sutton, featured blocks sewn by Laura in the 1940s. The colorful piecing had been fashioned out of scraps of old clothing.
Following the meeting, members conducted the annual white elephant sale, which helps fund charity projects.
Marilynn Lolley will hostess the Nov. 6 luncheon meeting at the Garnett Senior Center. In addition to their completed pillows and pillowcases, members are asked to bring non-perishable food items for donation to an area food pantry.
