A 2006 Dodge Caravan driven by Clara Ensminger, 17, Hutchinson, was traveling north on I-35 about 7:40 p.m. Friday near milepost 170, south of Ottawa, when a 2002 BMW driven by Alexander Shewmon, 19, Linwood, left the roadway, came back on the road and struck the Caravan, according to a Franklin County Sheriff’s report.
Shewmon was transported by Franklin County Emergency Medical Services ambulance to Ransom Memorial Hospital, 1301 S. Main St., Ottawa, with undisclosed injuries, according to the report.
Ensminger and her two passengers, grandparents Kenneth Ensminger, 71, and Stephanie Ensminger, 67, both of Hutchinson, were not injured in the crash, but their van was disabled, according to the report.
Shewmon’s condition was unknown Monday.
A Ransom Memorial Hospital spokeswoman said Monday afternoon that Shewmon was not listed as a patient.
