The Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce adopted a new logo after a Tuesday vote by the chamber’s board of directors. John Coen, Chamber president, unveiled the new logo at the group’s Quarterly Image Award Luncheon Wednesday at GreatLife Golf & Fitness, 1001 E. Logan St., Ottawa.
“We want to get into immediately branding ourselves as a new organization and have an identity that says, ‘We’re from Ottawa, and this is our community,’” Coen told area residents, business owners and Chamber members at the luncheon.
The new logo, which features a Victorian-style lamp and a deep burgundy color, is meant to remind people of Ottawa, Coen said. Replacing the “Absolutely Ottawa” logo, the new one has similarities to such other organizations as the Ottawa Main Street Association, Franklin County and the City of Ottawa.
“We think it’s something that people associate with our community, the Victorian light,” he said.
Designed by The Ottawa Herald’s in-house marketing communications agency, Studio 104, the logo includes the chamber’s new motto: “Lighting the way for our community.” The logo will be featured on the chamber’s letterhead, business cards and website, as well as membership stickers.
“We wanted to remind people of Ottawa, we wanted it to speak well of our community, that people had a good feel of our professional community and that we’re open for business,” Coen said.
