The Ottawa school board voted 5-1 Monday to purchase a new reach-in freezer, reach-in refrigerator, steamer, oven and microwave for the district’s kitchens for $40,789.75 from low bidder Hockenbergs Food Service Equipment & Supply, Lenexa. Board member Dennis George cast the dissenting vote.
“This equipment will get our kitchens updated and replace several pieces of equipment that is all but worn out,” Dean Katt, superintendent of Ottawa schools, said in his report.
The other two bids for the industrial-grade food service equipment each came in at more than $45,000.
