Dustin Jamal Burnett is being held on $50,000 bond at Douglas County Jail. He was arrested Friday afternoon in Jackson County, Mo., by Douglas County sheriff’s officers on a warrant, according to news reports.
Four Ottawa men have been arrested in connection with the robbery of four men, ages 18 to 19, in a Lawrence apartment about midnight Jan. 10. The suspects took money, cell phones and other items from the men, police reported in January.
Colby Blaine Simon, 19, Ottawa, was arrested by Ottawa police officers shortly after the incident occurred when a patrol officer spotted a white vehicle early the next morning that matched the description of a car seen leaving the scene of the Lawrence robbery.
Simon pleaded no contest to attempted robbery and theft and is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 10 in Douglas County District Court in Lawrence.
Two other Ottawa men were arrested and pleaded guilty to various charges related to the incident, according to news reports. Dominique Rashad Burnett, 22, Ottawa, was sentenced to 52 months in prison in September, and Dallas Jay Ambler, 22, Ottawa, is awaiting sentencing Dec. 21 in the case.
