Maree Brooks, 75, Morriston, Fla., passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012.
Arrangements are through Knauff Funeral Home-Williston. No services are planned.
She was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Gilman City, Mo., to Fred and Cilia Pryor.
She moved to Morriston, Fla., three years ago from Ottawa. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Highlands Baptist Church.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and animals. She collected Eskimo art and stories with Dr. Priscilla Tyler. The books she helped publish on Eskimo Heritage now are donated to Carlton University in Ottawa, Canada.
She was a member of the Altrusia Club in Kansas.
She earned her master’s degree plus 59 hours from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie Brooks; brother, Fred Pryor; niece, Michelle McGraw and her daughter, Tara McGraw; and nephew, Arthur Elliott.
