Thomas James “Tom” Harmon, 52, Quenemo, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013.
A funeral ceremony is planned for 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. Interment is expected to follow at the Auburn Cemetery, in Auburn, Kan. Tom will lie after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
He was born March 15, 1960, in St. Charles, Mo., the son of Bobby E. and Rose A. (Vitt) Harmon.
He was a graduate of St. Paul High School in St. Paul, Kan., and graduated from Pittsburgh State University School of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Harmon was employed by Frito Lay as a maintenance technician for 27 years.
He was an active member of the West Franklin community and coached softball for 25 years. He attended Michigan Valley Methodist Church.
Tom married Becky Fannin Nov. 15, 1980, in St. Paul. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his parents, St. Paul; six children, Angela (Jessie Gonzales) Harmon, Vassar, Tonya (Daniel) Forbis, Michigan Valley, Tommy (Jerrica) Harmon, Pomona, Bryant (Cassie) Harmon, Baldwin City, Alyssa (Mark McCain) Harmon, Michigan Valley and Macayla “Oobie” Harmon, of the home; eight grandchildren, Alexandria, Dawson, Morgan, Gavin, Linden, Ashton, Sophia and Mayson; four brothers, Randy, Steve, Tim and Bill Harmon; and a sister, Kristi Goodman.
Memorial contributions may be made to Macayla Harmon Education Fund through Kansas State Bank in Overbrook.
