Billy Witter Hurt, 81, of the New Lancaster area, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 at his home.
A funeral service was 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at the Calvary Baptist Church in La Cygne. Burial took place in the New Lancaster
Cemetery.
He was born May 4, 1931 in Miami County, the son of Thomas and Ada Witter Hurt.
He married Lois Evelyn Price July 30, 1950. She preceded him in death Dec. 9, 1994.
Billy worked his whole life as dairy farmer.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church of La Cygne, the rural water district No. 1 board, the fire association board in Drexel, Mo., and the New Lancaster Grange, as well as serving as a project leader for the Sunny Ridge 4-H Club for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Charles Hurt.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Hurt and wife, Sharon, La Cygne, and James Hurt and wife, Ruth, Louisburg; a daughter, Evelyn Trinkle and husband, Larry, Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Tracy Jackson and husband, Eric, Gerald and Darren Trinkle, Melissa Chambers and husband, Wes, Rick Hurt and wife, Jaci, Carissa Christie and husband, David, Sara Rhynerson and husband, Lester, and Trevor Hurt and wife, Kaylee; 11 great-grandchildren, Storm (Amanda) and Tate Jackson, Alex and Austin Trinkle, Ted, Sam and Emma Chambers, Cali and Tobi Hurt and Adyson, and Cade Rhynerson.
