Baldwin High School junior Katie Jones hit two free throws with six seconds left in overtime to give the Bulldogs a 35-33 victory over the Cyclones.
Baldwin’s Kailyn Smith hit a free throw with six-tenths of a second left in regulation to send the game into overtime tied at 28-28.
“They played their guts out,” Ottawa coach Cliff McCullough said. “They played good enough to win the game.
“We should be playing in a second overtime. It is not fair to those girls. It is sad.
“We deserve a little good fortune. We took another step forward. We played a good team on the road and took them to overtime.
“We probably should have won it. We had the lead.”
Ottawa missed five free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime.
Corie Fischer’s game-winning trey just went off the rim as the buzzer sounded.
“We did everything we needed to and then it was out of our hands,” McCullough said. “They had something taken away from them and it was not the opposing team.
Corie Fischer and Paige Weidner led Ottawa with eight points.
Ottawa (8-10) plays Tuesday at Eudora.
