All lanes of northbound I-35 are set to be completely closed 9 a.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday at Homestead Lane, where a new interchange and water treatment facility are being built to service the coming intermodal rail hub between Edgerton and Gardner. The closure will allow workers to set girders for the eastern portion of the new Homestead Lane bridge, weather permitting.
Motorists are expected to be rerouted to a marked detour. Northbound I-35 traffic will take the K-33 exit for Wellsville, head northbound on K-33 to eastbound U.S. 56, then follow U.S. 56, traveling through Edgerton and Gardner, back to northbound I-35.
The bridge work and detour originally were slated for overnight Friday and today, but were delayed because of a delay in materials, the Kansas Department of Transportation said.
