The frozen yogurt shop has been in the making since mid-December and has gone through many construction projects to get it where it is today, Blaue, owner and operator of the store, said.
Blaue, who also runs American Family Insurance business next door to the shop at 1410 S. Main St., Ottawa, said the opening will come just in time to catch those returning from spring break.
“The buzz in town has all been really good, and I think there will be plenty of people,” he said. “There’s plenty of people who don’t go anywhere for spring break and [instead do a] stay-cation. I think we’ll have plenty of people interested in coming in on Friday.”
The finishing touches were being put on the shop Monday afternoon in preparation for Blaue’s nephew’s birthday party Wednesday, he said.
“Wednesday night we’ll have friends and family. My nephew is having his birthday party there, and I wanted to make sure he got to have his party at Peachwave,” he said. “That was one of our goals to get it going.”
Blaue’s two sons and his wife will help run the shop, but he’s also hired some local people to help out as well, he said.
“The one thing that’s nice about the store is you can hire younger kids, high school-aged kids that maybe it’s their first job and hire college kids and adults who just want a part-time job,” he said. “I’ve got college kids who have been in the workforce a bit and know what’s expected of them, so I can pair them with a younger one and keep it going that way.”
“I’m getting a lot of positive feedback,” he said. “We want it to be a fun, great place to come. I think it’ll be a really nice place for kids and adults to come hang out.”
Peachwave’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
