Midwest Cabinet Co., 1674 N. Industrial Ave., Ottawa, has established a relationship with Blaze Pizza, a pizza restaurant chain in California, Joe Rogers, operations manager, said. The cabinet and tabletop manufacturer is the provider of interior cabinet and tabletop construction to several national chain restaurants, including Applebee’s, Chuck-E Cheese, Jimmy John’s, Qdoba, and now Blaze Pizza.
Blaze Pizza is a California-based pizza restaurant that focuses on serving pizza as quickly as possible, “because exceptional quality at freakishly fast speed is what we’re all about,” Blaze Pizza’s website said.
While Blaze Pizza has yet to reach Kansas, the restaurant is expanding throughout the country quickly. According to the company’s website, Blaze Pizza will expand to 19 new locations before the end of the year and has opened 17 locations previously. Most are located in California, but locations are planned in New York, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Maryland this year.
Midwest Cabinet already has produced the interior mill work and booth seating for 10 of the new locations and more are in production, Rogers said. Local manufacturers Select Steel Inc., 1642 N. Industrial Ave., Ottawa, and Ernest-Spencer Custom Coatings, 1510 N. Davis Ave., Ottawa, have participated in the project as well, he said.
“It’s a very exciting opportunity with high hopes for increased business in the future,” Rogers said.
Jeremy Stone, project manager, said the company builds the counter area where customers order their pizza, the beverage counter and the booths. As the restaurant keeps expanding throughout the country, Midwest Cabinet will keep producing their counter tops for them, he said.
“We’re spread out from Florida to California with the orders we have right now,” Stone said.
“Typically we send it out and they have their general contractor on site who does the installation,” Stone said.
The company employs about 100 professionals, Stone said, and most of the workers are in the Ottawa area. The company provides services focusing on design and installation of tabletops and counters. According to the company’s website, it will also provide consulting to help design specific con
