The department had not received a final determination from the medical examiner’s office Wednesday and will not be making an announcement until it receives that official identification, Capt. Adam Weingartner, with the police department, said late Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to a positive identification, authorities also have said they are hopeful the coroner’s report will provide the cause of death.
The Herald learned the dead woman was Michelle Morrissey, according to a neighbor and the woman’s mother. Her funeral arrangements are pending with Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa.
Ottawa police responded to the scene of the unattended death 9:48 a.m. Sunday, according to a department press release. The woman appeared to have been dead for several days, police said.
