The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and theft between 7 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 Block of Indiana Road. Franklin County Crime Stoppers, a community action group that works to help solve crimes by offering tips for information, highlighted the incident Monday as its crime of the week.
Among the lengthy list of items taken were shotguns, rifles and shooting gear, according to the group. For more information on the theft report, See Page 3.
The incident follows similar theft reports detailed by Crime Stoppers earlier this month.
In a July 13-14 crime in the 2100 Block of John Brown Road, Princeton, a number of shotguns and rifles, as well as a moped, four-wheeler, video games and other items were reported stolen. A few days later, July 18, several handguns, shotguns and rifles were reported stolen from the 1600 block of Vermont Road, according to Crime Stoppers.
Jeff Richards, Franklin County sheriff, could not immediately be reached for comment Monday.
The sheriff told The Herald earlier this month his office had increased patrols in rural parts of the county to boost drug enforcement efforts since, he said, most local property crimes lead back to drug crimes.
