The council, with Bill Lytle, mayor, tipping the vote 3-2, appointing Jared Eggleston to a seat vacated by Ryan Young, who submitted a letter of resignation at the previous city council meeting Aug. 14.
Young could not be reached for comment, but Lytle said Young’s reason for resigning was to “explore some business opportunities.”
Eggleston previously served on the city council from 2009 to 2013. Eggleston is a former Wellsville police officer and also is a liaison for the Franklin Township Fire District.
“It was a logical choice,” Lytle said about appointing Eggleston. Clayton Neel, Keith Churchill and Eggleston all submitted letters of interest to be appointed.
Eggleston will be sworn in at the next city council meeting, scheduled for Sept. 11.
