Ottawa and Franklin County together were announced Tuesday as one of 60 finalists for the “Prettiest Painted Places in America” competition.
The competition, which is sponsored by the Paint Quality Institute, determined that Ottawa’s and Franklin County’s painted buildings qualified the communities as among the prettiest in the south central U.S.
“Congratulations are very much in order, especially given the very high quality of nominees in this year’s competition,” the organization said in a release. “It is indeed an honor to have come this far and for some, the best is yet to come.”
Judges well-versed in color selection, exterior paint and home improvement reviewed more than 200 nominees in the competition, according to the release.
The competition is divided into two categories: communities above and below 10,000 residents. The final round of judging is scheduled to take place late next week, the organization said in its release.
