Two 14-year-old Ottawa boys were apprehended by police about 9:45 p.m. in the 600 block of East Sixth Street in connection with a couple of vehicle break-ins in the area, Ottawa police said.
Investigators believe the two boys stole items from at least two unlocked vehicles, but the total could climb because officers have recovered some property that has yet to be identified, Capt. Adam Weingartner, with the Ottawa Police Department, said.
The boy carrying the brass knuckles was not in possession of alcohol, but it was apparent to officers that he was under the influence, Weingartner said.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary, theft, minor in consumption of alcohol and criminal carry of a weapon after he was found breaking into vehicles, according to a police report. The other boy was arrested on suspicion of vehicle burglary and theft.
The two youths were transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center, 226 S. Beech St., Ottawa.
