The match will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Plainview, Texas. Ottawa is making its second straight appearance in the NAIA National Tournament. Ottawa fell last year to Bellevue, Neb.
Ottawa needed five sets to upend conference regular season co-champion Kansas Wesleyan Saturday at Salina in the KCAC Tournament championship match. Ottawa won 20-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 15-12. It was Ottawa’s eighth straight victory.
Ottawa had four players in double digit kills, led by Becca Colson’s career-high 22. The senior hitter finished with a .529 hitting percentage and only four hitting errors in 34 attempts. Nicole Gingery had 16 kills in 40 attempts for a .225 hitting percentage. She also tied the school record for block assists in a single game with six.
Taylor Bridge had 11 kills and 11 digs. Avery Enzbrenner tallied 10 kills and seven digs. Haley Thompson led Ottawa with 17 digs. Christa Hill had 30 assists and Lindsey Widen tallied 25.
Ottawa advanced to the KCAC title match Friday with a 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 25-22 win over the other co-KCAC champion Tabor College.
Bridge paced Ottawa with 10 kills and a team high 18 digs. Gingery continued her hot hitting with 15 kills, hitting .306.
Allie Arnold had nine kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Hill had a team-high 20 assists and Widen finished with 18. Haley Thompson had 12 digs.
