Renfro qualifies for state golf

The West Franklin High School girls golf will be at state for the first time in district history.

On Monday, Meredith Renfro finished sixth in the 3-2-1A regional at Council Grove with a 113. Council Grove’s Hannah Vondemkamp was the top medalist with a 101.

Meredith will play Monday at the state tourney in Great Bend.

WMS football finishes undefeated

The Wellsville Middle School eighth grade football team finished its season undefeated Thursday with a 20-8 win over Prairie View.

Wellsville went 7-0 for the second straight season and won the Pioneer League title for the second time in a row.

Luke Meyer led the offense with two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion. Matt Torneden scored a touchdown.

The seventh grade fell 20-8 to Prairie View to finish 4-2 and third in the Pioneer League.

Trevor Shalkoski had a touchdown.

Trent Smith scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion.
