The Eagles went into halftime tied, 21-21, but couldn’t hold on in the third. That bad third quarter is what lost it for the Eagles, Brock Campbell, head coach said.
“We played well the first half, and we just had a bad third quarter,” he said. “We got outscored 18-8 in the third quarter and just didn’t take care of the ball very well.”
The multiple turnovers in the third quarter “put them in a hole that the team couldn’t dig out of,” Campbell said. That led to the loss in the team’s first game back from break. Despite being able to practice over break, Campbell said he was expecting the team to be a little rusty at the away game.
This loss brings the team to a 2-5 record. With three returning starters, Campbell said he’s looking for at least two of his leading scorers, Bonzo and McTaggert, to really step up in the second half of the season.
“Their going to have to step up and start helping us win more games,” Campbell said.
The Eagles face off against Maranatha Academy Tuesday in Shawnee Mission.

ANDERSON COUNTY 27, TONGANOXIE 49
GARNETT — The Anderson County girls lost at home to Tonganoxie Friday night for their first game of 2013.
Despite what head coach Tim Bremerman describes as “a decent showing,” the 1-4 Anderson County team was no match for the undefeated Tonganoxie club.
“The capitalized on some of our mistakes,” he said. “We’re trying to get everybody on the same page doing what their supposed to be doing and hopefully we can pull out some more wins for us.”
Fresh off holiday break, the team has a full schedule next week starting with a home game Monday against Metro Academy.
