Ottawa dominated the duals with nine wrestlers winning both matches. Ottawa defeated St. Marys, 54-21. The Cyclones overwhelmed Riverside, 78-3.
The Cyclones had four wrestlers place in the top four at Clearwater. Dalton Weidl won the 182-pound division with a 4-0 mark. Caleb Parenti (160) and Mickey Jensen (285) finished third. Hunter Peoples (145) was fourth.
“Those guys really wrestled well,” Ottawa coach Joe Tokarz said. “Dalton had a great day winning every match by pin.
“This was a true bracketed tournament exactly like the regional meet will be. We are learning more and more on what will take to compete at a successful level in that type of meet.”
Ottawa wrestles Saturday in the Piper Invitational.
