The Vikings are starting to round into form. Central Heights went 2-1, winning Saturday’s fifth-place game, 42-19, over Humboldt.
Central Heights is showing signs of playing well in most facets. The Vikings jumped on top 16-2 after the first quarter and never looked back.
“Excellent effort in all phases of the game,” Lane said. “We came out and made a statement defensively and they were never able to get comfortable on the offensive end. Our guards did a great job of controlling the game and made some great transition buckets. It’s fun to watch this team improve and see the hard work pay off.”
Brianna Erhart paced the Vikings with 14 points. Whitney Kraus tossed in 10 points.
Central Heights plays today at home against West Franklin.

EMPORIA — West Franklin could not get anything going Saturday in the fifth-place game of the Flint Hills League Tournament in Emporia.
Mission Valley downed the Falcons, 37-24.
“We played hard and had plenty of opportunities,” Falcon coach Kyle Conley said. “We just struggled to execute. One factor is that I think they we exerted so much energy from the Herington game that we had a little bit of a letdown. The girls battled, but just ran out of gas.”
Emily Reed led the Falcons with eight points.
West Franklin plays today at Central Heights.
