The Lady Braves fell behind by 18 in the second half and could not crawl out of the hole. Ottawa lost 70-60.
Kansas Wesleyan erased a nine-point Ottawa lead with an 18-0 run to end the first half and then scored the first eight points of the second half to complete the 26-point spurt to open a 50-33 lead with 15 minutes left in the game. The lady Braves went more than seven minutes without scoring.
Ottawa came as close as six points with 3:49 left in the game when Lauren Buckles hit a trey and Amber Ramsey netted seven straight points.
Ottawa had trouble from behind the three-point arc, shooting 23 percent and 40 percent overall.
Ottawa forced 25 turnovers, but had just a 26-21 advantage in points off turnovers.
Ottawa was led by Ramsey’s career-high of 28 points. She also had seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
Mikayla Skidmore came off of the bench to score 14 points. She had a team-high six assists and four steals. Buckles netted 11 points and had three steals.
