Friday night was another at Central Heights’ Ike Cearfoss Gym. The game started at a neck-breaking pace and never slowed down.
Wellsville carved out a 54-50 victory to remain unbeaten in the Pioneer League.
Central Heights rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to pull within two at 49-47 in the fourth quarter.
That was as close as the Vikings would get.
The first half saw several lead changes. Wellsville led 31-28 at the half.
Wellsville junior Carter Mann tossed in 17 of his 27 points in the first half.
Central Heights junior Jordan Horstick fired in 19 points. Tanner Erhart had 11.
West Franklin 57, Lebo 21
POMONA — West Franklin High School boys’ defense led to transition hoops after the first quarter of Friday’s 57-21 victory over Lebo in Pomona.
West Franklin led 14-10 after the first quarter and limited the Wolves to 11 points in the final three quarters.
Falcons coach James Spencer said the defense began to take over after the first quarter and turned it up a notch in the second half.
The defense spurred the Falcons to a 23-5 advantage in the third quarter.
“We took advantage of their mistakes,” Spencer said.
The Falcons attacked after the turnovers, which is what Spencer was looking for from the Falcons.
Brady Geist paced West Franklin with 14 points. Matt Gray netted 13 and Owen Reed had 12.
West Franklin (9-7) plays Tuesday at Madison.
