Paola (18-0) swept Ottawa, 6-0 and 5-1.
“It was a disappointing way to have senior night go for our seniors, but they played to the best of their abilities, did what we asked, and that was all we could ask them to do,” Ottawa coach Joe Serna said.
“If we are going to be successful in regionals, we are going to have to re-find that team concept that led to us our six-game winning streak and sparked our hitting.”
Ottawa’s bright spot offensively was a solo home run in the second game by Kylie Foster.
“Paola’s good pitching shut down our hitters and kept them off balance,” Serna said.
“We couldn’t make any adjustments at the plate and had 19 strikeouts.”
Kendall Blanco had Ottawa’s only hit in the opener. Elizabeth Seimears pitched the opener and had five strikeouts.
Serna said Ottawa could not muster any offensive attack other than the home run.
Ottawa (8-7) plays 4:45 p.m. Monday at home in the first round of regional against Baldwin (9-5).
