Ottawa earned its first NAIA postseason victory with a 7-2 win Tuesday over Our Lady of the Lakes University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Ottawa fell 5-0 to Oklahoma Baptist Tuesday to finish at 27-23. Ottawa fell 12-0 Monday in the first round to William Carey.
Ottawa jumped on top of Oklahoma Baptist 3-0 in the first inning. Gabby Markham hit a 2-RBI single and later scored on a wild throw.
Markham hit an RBI sacrifice fly in the third inning. Ottawa pushed two runs home in the sixth and one in the seventh inning for a 7-0 lead.
Amber Harris went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Elisa Valenzuela and Catherine Wallace had two hits each.
Markham picked up her 17th win of the season.
Alyssa Miller had two hits in the loss to Oklahoma Baptist.
Ottawa had eight players earn all-KCAC honors. Budke was a first-team selection as a designated player for the second straight season. She had a .436 batting average.
Markham was a first-team pitcher. She had a 2.72 earned run average.
Catcher Mikayla Oliphant was a second-team selection for the second straight season. She led Ottawa with nine home runs.
Miller, Darin Lewis, Valenzuea and Savannah Taylor were honorable mention team members.
Miller earned NAIA national player of the week once this season. She had a .355 batting average. Lewis averaged .343. Valenzuela was second on team in batting average at .378. Taylor smashed eight home runs.
