He won his first race and turned his best time of his career. He ran 17 minutes, 14.1 seconds, which was No. 9 all-time in school history.
“He led for a good portion of the race and was able to hold off freshman Dylan Brenneman of Spring Hill,” Wellsville coach Tim Savage said.
Brandyn Brewster came in with his best race as he took eighth.
“Sophomore Brandyn Brewster had a strong race, also setting a personal record time and placing in the top 10,” Savage said.
The girls had a couple of top performances.
Lauren McDaniel finished third and Taylor Everhart was 18th.
“Freshman Lauren McDaniel led for a portion of the varsity girls race before falling back to third, which she held to the finish,” Savage said.
Wellsville competes Thursday at Eudora in a triangular with St. James.

Dillon Welch led the host Vikings in 18th. Shelby Cardell finished 32nd and JR Kimball, 35th.
Cole Sheldon did not run because of an injury.
Coach Phillip Pearson said he hopes to have him back for league and regionals.
Central Heights competes Thursday at Jayhawk-Linn. The Pioneer League race will be at Central Heights and the regional is at Jayhawk-Linn.
