Braves senior Corey Smith and Lady Braves junior Amber Ramsey were on the men’s and women’s teams.
All returning all-conference first team and honorable mention 2011-2012 performers were nominated for preseason honors. The basketball coaches also had the opportunity to nominate other key members from their teams.
The men’s squad was highlighted by five unanimous selections in JEB Greenburg, University of Saint Mary; Ryan Chippeaux, Tabor; Samson Shivers, McPherson, Adam Brown, Sterling, and Trey Beachum Bethany.
The other men’s team members are Kevin Harvey (Saint Mary), Lee Griffin (Bethel), Trey Beachum (Bethany), Jordan Wilcox (Saint Mary) and Lawson Kingsley (Tabor).
Smith, a first-team all-conference selection last year, led Ottawa in scoring (15.8) and rebounding (7.1).
The women’s squad was led by last year’s first team selections: Zefiryn Bryan (Southwestern), Stephanie Frost (Kansas Wesleyan), Abril Marshall (Friends) and Katlyn Mary (Tabor).
Ramsey averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game last year for the Lady Braves.
