The two teams have formed a rivalry the past few seasons. Ottawa scored two of its three goals in the second half en route to a 3-0 victory.
“We were under pressure in the first half but were able to turn it around in second half,” Ottawa coach Daniel Nathan said. “The players played very well tactically.”
Ottawa won all three matches this week with wins earlier over Paola and Bonner Springs.
Daniel gave his starters rest against Paola to make sure they had enough energy to play well the rest of the week.
Church said after the Bonner Springs match that turned out to be good coaches strategy by Daniel.
Church said the Cyclones wanted to beat Spring Hill bad.
“Spring Hill that is the one we are looking forward to,” Church said.
Church teamed with Connor Stepp for the second goal.
Garret Cruce netted the third goal.
Keeper Alex Stepp did not allow a goal.
Ottawa (7-5) plays 6 p.m. Monday in the final home match of the season against De Soto. Ottawa closes the season with three road matches against Baldwin, Kansas City Christian and Louisburg.
Monday will be the final home match for seniors Church, Cody Uht, Nate Rodriguez, Asher McInnes and Vince Sylvester.
The Ottawa junior varsity lost 4-0.
