The Vikings opened the tournament with a 25-23, 25-12 win over Kansas City Christian.
“We started a little slow this match, but then turned around and really started to make things happen offensively,” Central Heights coach Ann Bowen said. “I think we struggle with confidence and we need to start going into matches expecting to win. Start of the second set, I think we had that mentality and that helped. I thought Alexis Dryden started to really hit hard, she is approaching the ball better and Shannon Goldring was hitting well.”
The Vikings then fell to Uniontown (25-11, 25-14) and Girard (25-8, 25-22).
“I don’t know what happened during the first set of this match,” Bowen said about the loss to Girard. “But the second was much, much better. It almost seems like we always need a one set to warmup and then we are good to go. But by that time, its too hard to come back and win if we have lost the first set. We need to finish the season by coming out strong from point one.”
Central Heights plays today at home against Osawatomie.
