Ottawa scored three goals in the final 19 minutes to erase a 1-0 Saint Mary lead. The Spires scored in the seventh minute.
The Braves got on the board in the 71st minute on a goal by Zack Hanks. On Tyler Smith’s corner kick, Hanks headed the ball past Saint Mary keeper Nick Waite to tie the match at 1-1.
The Braves took the lead in the 83rd minute when Rafael Ramirez was fouled in the box. Grant Keith came on for the penalty kick, putting the ball past Waite.
The Braves would get an insurance goal in the 86th minute on a goal by Ramirez. Hanks had the assist.
Ottawa (3-8-2, 1-1-2) led in shots 22-13 and had a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Brave keeper Drinnan Sante had one save.
The Ottawa women’s soccer team continued with its winning ways with a 5-0 victory over Saint Mary.
Ottawa took a 1-0 lead at the 17:38 mark on a goal by Sawyer Scheufele. Autumn Surage and Morgan Trupp had the assist. The Lady Braves extended their lead to 2-0 in the 27th minute on a goal by Dylann Finley.
The Lady Braves increased their lead to 3-0 at the 53:43 mark on a goal by Annie Kessler off of a pass from Jordan Tapia.
Two minutes later, Ottawa increased its lead on Scheufele’s second goal of the game. Trupp had the assist.
Lauren Whitney’s goal came in the 80th minute on a pass from Lisa Greer.
Ottawa (7-5-1, 3-1-0) had a 28-1 leads in shots and a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal.
