The Ottawa defense held the Lady Bobcats to 39 percent shooting from the floor but couldn’t overcome 20 turnovers in the season opener.
The Lady Braves were within 41-33 at halftime. Ottawa cut the deficit to four with two minutes left in the second half. The Lady Bobcats though made its free throws down the stretch.
Ottawa had four players in double digit scoring led by Amber Ramsey’s double-double. The senior forward had 18 points and 12 rebounds. She also tied for the team-high in assists (4) with Mikayla Skidmore.
In their first collegiate game, freshmen Ashley Romig and Madison Stewart scored in double figures. Romig finished with 16 points and seven rebounds while Stewart scored 11 points and had three rebounds.
Senior Shauna McClure was the other Lady Brave in double figure scoring. She went 4-for-7 from behind the three-point line to finish with 16 points.
Ottawa shot 50 percent from the floor and 68 percent from the free-throw line. Ottawa finished with 13 assists.
