The Ottawa University and Sterling men’s soccer teams needed a penalty kick shootout to decide Saturday’s Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal match at Peoples Bank Field.

The two teams battled through a scoreless tie for 110 minutes. Ottawa won the shootout 3-1 to advance to Wednesday’s semifinals at No. 2 seed Tabor.

Ottawa’s Grant Keith, Kyler Grimes-Hopkins and Brad Bleich connected on their shot attempts.

Ottawa goalkeeper Drinnan Sante tallied three saves four attempts to give the Braves the chance for a rematch against the Bluejays.

Sante was selected the KCAC keeper of the year and named to the first team all-KCAC squad by the coaches.
