There were nine ties and 14 lead changes in Baker’s 73-64 victory. Baker had a 51-33 advantage in bench points and went 21-for-24 from the free-throw line. The Wildcats were 20-of-22 from the stripe in the second half.
The Braves trailed by two at the half to the Wildcats, 27-25. They rallied and took a four-point lead with 7:57 remaining.
Baker’s Corey Anderson connected on two straight treys to erase Ottawa’s lead.
Baker then sealed the game from the line in the final few minutes..
Ottawa shot 35.1 percent from the floor, 30.4 percent from behind the arc and 70.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Baker shot 37.7 percent from the floor and 28.6 percent from behind the three-point line.
Julian Rose paced Ottawa with 15 points. Stephen Feighny tossed in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
Ben Steinlage had nine points and nine rebounds.
The other contest saw Peru State rally for an 86-84 overtime win over University of Saint Mary, the preseason KCAC favorite.
