The Vikings return seniors Tanner Erhart, Tyler Hendron and Jordan Horstick at the center and forward spots.
“This will be our bread-and-butter,” Central Heights coach Rusty Cannady said. “All three have played together since they were freshman. They have that chemistry that only comes around every so often.”
Add to that mix is point guard Tristan Davis coming back for his senior season.
“Tristan is one of those leaders that a coach dreams of,” Cannady said. “He is a tough-nosed kid that you never have to motivate.
“Everyday you know exactly what you will get. He is our defensive stopper and can run every position on the floor offensively.”
The Vikings also return junior guards Chase Brown and Gavin Holler.
“Two players that will see a lot of minutes on the varsity,” Cannady said. “Both have worked extremely hard this summer and have showed that they are ready for the next level.”
“Coby didn’t play his junior year and decided to play this year,” Cannady said. “He played over the summer and is starting to get the squeak back in his sneakers. He is a terrific kid and knows the game extremely well. We expect big things from Coby this year.”
Cannady said several sophomores are vying for varsity time.
“We also will depend on a deep sophomore class,” Cannady said. “We have a handful of sophomores that will challenge the varsity day in and day out for their spot. Practice has been intense and fun.
“This will be a fun group to coach. From seniors to freshman, everybody respects everyone and there is no jealousy. They play for the school, not their self.”
Central Heights opens the season Friday at Prairie View.
